time for other play

Happy Place, Happy Space

I was grounded this week with a fractured little toe – it’s amazing how one little digit can affect life.

The story is not exciting (not like Betsy from Motherhood & Martial Arts’ dramatic injuries ) – I caught the toe on the leg of a table; I have to admit this happens more often than I would like, although thankfully, it doesn’t always result in a fracture.

It was with a sigh of relief I walked at week’s end in the Singapore Botanic Gardens with manageable discomfort.

I made good use of my break from running: baking, reading cookbooks, playing with The Dollhouse.

About a month ago, Innocent Singapore had a IG contest calling for interesting places around Singapore to photograph their smoothies. As it is one of our favourite beverages which we visit London (even in the coldest of winters), we were delighted to hear of their arrival and of course, took several shots around our neighbourhood. For the occasion, we brought out The Dollhouse which has been in storage for almost a decade.

While they are out and about, Older Child & I decided to make new, summery clothes for them.

Such fun to be reacquainted with old friends.

Do you have any toys/games from way back that you still enjoy?

    1. Colleen! So happy to have you pop by … to delight in my dollhouse with me – I really did bring it out for the Younger Child to play with, but it looks like Older Child and I are getting the biggest kicks out of it.

Goodness! Seems like that little toe problem is not so isolated …

  1. Hope you’re fully fit & running again soon, Ju-Lyn 🀞The shot of the lake in the Botanic Gardens with the reflections of the trees & lights is magical; love it πŸ˜ƒ Love the doll house pics, looks like a lot of fun. My wife & I make seasonal gear for our band of stuffed toys; it’s cardigan weather again now πŸ˜‚

  2. Ouch! So easy to do, and so painful! Glad you’re limping better. The Dollshouse is lovely. Did somebody in the family make it? Nice to give them a style makeover. Have a good week!

    1. Loving Husband built it – mostly because at the time, there weren’t many store options in our price range. He felt he could do a better job with our budget.

  3. How cute is that dollhouse?! And fun about the smoothies! So sorry about your toe. I’ve done that too. It’s so annoying. Fortunately mine didn’t result in a fracture, you poor thing. If you’re going to do that again, and be forced to merely walk instead of run as you recover, do it just a little before I arrive, okay? That way I won’t feel guilty about slowing you down. πŸ˜‰ I kid! I do not want you to injure yourself! More likely, thanks to jet lag, you’ll get 5 miles in before I even wake up. πŸ˜›
And thank you for the mention. Always an honor. πŸ™‚

  4. I hope your toe heals quickly! Your dolls and their outfits are adorable. I love the reflections at the Botanical Gardens. Thank you for the mention and for your contribution to Weekend Coffee Share.

    1. Getting there, Natalie! I can do my exercise walks comfortably now.
So glad to have you delight in our dolls with us, and for your encouragement for the Garden captures.
And thank you yet again for hosting us at the Weekend Coffee Share!

    1. Very sorry about your toe! Glad it is healing well enough for you to be able to walk without major discomfort. That doll house and its occupants are adorable. What fun! Can’t think of anything that I still enjoy from childhood.

      1. Thank you Barbara & Laurie – I am having such fun with the dollhouse. Older Child has a collection of miniature food (Japanese, of course), so I am rifling through them to “feed” the family.
