merry christmas and a happy new year

Roundup of The Changing Seasons, November 2023

It has been a quiet Christmas. Illness has been making its rounds: flu, Covid, although not life-threatening, has put several of our number out of commission. Others found themselves unable to travel to Singapore due to unforeseen circumstances. So we have decided to postpone our merrymaking for a later time.

Younger Child decided she needed to make and decorate her cookies anyways.

So I had tea companions.

We shall have to make more when we have Christmas in January (or February).

How was your Christmas? How are you planning to usher in the new year?

It’s almost time for The Changing Seasons

The Changing Seasons is coming soon on 31 December 2023 (7:00 am, Singapore time). Hope you will join Brian and I for a wrap-up of December 2023 (follow this link to find out more about The Changing Seasons).

Thank you to those who shared their November 2023 with us:

  1. Oh no, I didn’t know you guys were sick?? I hope you all are on the mend and fully recovering. The decorated cookies are definitely one way to brighten up one’s mood and make tea time more delightful.

    1. All good now, Esther. Our sick was flu & 1st time Covid for my parents, which thankfully they are fully recovered from now. Nothing like the hospital ordeal for you all in the last few months.

  2. Ju-Lyn, I hope all your sick family members are feeling better. The cookies look festive. I had a cozy Christmas and will ring in 2024 with family and fireworks at Toronto’s harbourfront. Happy New Year!

  3. I’m sorry that people have gotten sick. Wishing them all a speedy recovery. In regards to New Year’s, nothing festive on the NYE because we’re going to the Rose Parade on NY Day.

    1. We are all well now, Brian, appreciate very much the well wishes. Just waiting for our London family before we make another batch of cookies!

I agree with you, Younger Child did painstakinly & patiently frost most of the cookies. I mostly enjoyed eating them!

  4. “You had tea companions”! That’s very cute. I’m glad your daughter still got to make her cookies. I’m sorry your plans were ruined, but I hope it works out soon. Something to look forward to still! We only have Christmas with our little family, so I guess that means we don’t have to worry about travel and illness issues. But, we only have Christmas with our little family. :/ Enjoy your tea and cookies! Blessings on your 2024!

    1. Not ruined, just postponed! My folks are all better now, and my London Aunt & Uncle will eventually make their way here. For now, everyone is better, so all is well.

Small family celebrations are good. That’s the way we like it too.

        1. Any chance for a celebration, right? We are still waiting on our London family – they will only fly out once their neighbour’s renovations are done (there is scaffolding set up alarmingly close to their kitchen sky roof).

            1. Exactly. I think they would be able to peacefully fly out here if only the scaffolds were removed. But with the weather in London, no work seems to be going on the last couple of months (they peek out every day for signs of life!)

  5. It doesn’t really matter when you all get together, so long as you can. Hope everyone’s fit and well soon. Love the festive gingerbread men. All the best for the new year 🤗❤️
