Happy Place, Happy Space

It has been a flurry of activity this week in the Singapore Botanic Gardens. It has been good fun watching the Christmas decorations go up through the week.

A family of smooth-coated otters have been running about. They are hardly afraid of us and barely register our presence, although there was one who was more than happy to pose for us for quite an extended period of time.

As do I and many others who stop to watch them at each spotting! They are like rock stars!

So it is not common to spot them?

Itโs a lot of serendipity – they donโt usually stick around very long

I am hoping to catch them once I finally go to Sg. Happy holidays!

Iโm afraid a typical Singapore quick visit doesnโt necessarily include a great deal of nature, unlike the 2 places you live!

I love how assertive your otters are. Ours seldom can be found out of water (or the water’s very edge)!

Itโs a treat to sight them so close, but the down side is that they are still wild animals and it makes me nervous when people seem to forget this, especially those with young children who get awfully close

They are very adorable. But we do try to keep a distance because they are not afraid of human presence – there are pups in the family so we think they might be extra protective.

I hope to see otters when I go back there.

I hope you do get to visit soon. Spotting them is a bit of serendipity though – they often move on when the fish supply runs low

Thanks so much for linking my post! Those otters are so cute, I wonder if that one was waiting for his tummy to be stroked.

They are very – so much so that sometimes I notice that people forget they are still wild critters. That makes me a little nervous.
