Reflecting on the month past
I enjoyed time in art spaces – always a happy time for me.
From left, clockwise: 1) walking through Antony Gromley’s “Horizon Field” (2021) with Older & Younger Child at the National Gallery of Singapore, 2) Flora of South East Asia at the Singapore Botanic Gardens, 3) “My pulse is beating and my veins throbbing and in wonder, my song bursts forth” by Hemali Bhuta (2021) at the Singapore Biennale 2022
It’s been a busy month in our kitchen, filled with many a pastry bake, thanks to the Facebook Baking Group that I play with. Hosted by Dorie Greenspan, one of my favourite baking gurus, her easy to follow recipes which allow lots of “playing around”, this generous & inspiring group of bakers have been working on pies in preparation for Thanksgiving. And so, from storebought crusts, we moved definitively into made-from-scratch tarts & galettes.
From top left, clockwise: Cranberry-Blueberry-Apple Galette, Mini Chocolate Chip Banana Loaf, Mushroom Soup Dumplings, Black Sesame Financiers with Matcha Frosting, Fruit & Yogurt Bowl with a dusting of Maca Powder, Grape Yogurt Cake, Cherry Tomato & Feta Galette, Pumpkin Marshmallow Pie, Dark Chocolate Tart
How was your November?
About The Changing Seasons
The Changing Seasons is a monthly project where bloggers around the world share their thoughts and feelings about the month just gone. We all approach this slightly differently, though generally with an emphasis on the photos we’ve taken during the month.
For many of us, looking back over these photos provides the structure and narrative of our post, so each month is different. Some focus on documenting the changes in a particular project — such as a garden, an art or craft project, or a photographic diary of a familiar landscape.
But in the end, it is your changing season, and you should approach it however works for you.
There are no fixed rules around post length or photo number — just a request that you respect your readers’ time and engagement.

Your post is always full of yummy foods, and you take such beautiful photos of them. We are slowly settling into more of a routine that doesn’t include the hospital.

I hear you, Pauline. I am sure you both (particularly Jack) would be happy not to see the hospital again any time soon! Hope you are enjoying the warmer weather activities this month!

Hi Ju-Lyn, Happy December 3rd already! Your food looks so yummy as always. The Horizon Field looks incredibly challenging to walk through. It’s like a three-dimensional maze almost. I’d have to really watch my footwork and my head! LOL What fun! Here is my post for this month’s Changing Season. Here’s my post for this month. 🙂 http://alwayswrite.blog/2022/11/30/wqw-46-are-abandoned-buildings-compelling-art/

You have the art of presentation (of food) down to pure art. I haven’t due to long distances ever been able to taste it, but it LOOKS incredible.

My November was not as yummy as yours, Ju-Lyn. My blood glucose level is going up just looking at those delicious treats.

All those bakes look delicious – someone needs to invent a way we could taste them virtually as well as see them! And I love that piece by Anthony Gormley. I’m a big admirer of his work (the Angel of the North is an especial favourite) but I’ve never seen anything quite like that from him.
Here’s my October and November rolled into one, as promised: https://www.toonsarah-travels.blog/gallery-a-november-and-october-selection/

This particular piece is quite different – previous works had the human form incorporated in some form. I have only seen images of Angel of the North – the immensity is mind-boggling!
Glad to have your double issue of The Changing Seasons!

Only one word will do: Wowsah! To say that I am impressed is a huge understatement. Also, I really enjoyed seeing your girls wander through the sculpture.

What remarkable creativity throughout this post. Your baked goods array is stunning in its beauty and variety (and, I assume, its taste!). And I particularly love your family making their way through Horizontal Field. Both types of art in your post are interactive in the best way!

Tried to leave a response previously but am not sure it went through. Just wanted to say again that I enjoyed your stunning array of images, and my 2 favourites are the wallaby mom (her expression is killer!) and the multi-hued bunch of berries!

That first art structure looks like so much fun to explore and prance around in. I’m not familiar with the term ‘galette.’ So much of your food is new and intriguing to me. My mouth is watering from here!

Galette is a French term for free form pastry, can be sweet or savoury. I am so glad to be able to share the delights from our culinary adventure!
