fountain sculpture

Healing Garden, Singapore Botanic Gardens

Revisited this part of the gardens for the first time in a while. At the Gambir Gate entrance stands a fountain sculpture which I love very much.

I have a soft spot for fountains of all sorts. Apparently when I was a newborn and my parents had a tough time getting me to fall asleep, they would drive me to the nearest fountain near our home at the time, which was in front of the former National Theatre & Van Cleef Aquarium on River Valley Road; the theatre, aquarium & fountain are no longer there, replaced by an entrance to Fort Canning Hill. After listening to the hypnotic sounds of the water sprays, I would apparently fall asleep.

  1. Aren’t sounds powerful? I love your photo and the story behind it. I join your other readers in saying that I also love fountains and wind chimes. They are relaxing music to me. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Fountains, with their running water, are so soothing. I have a small blue one in my garden, and we love listening to the bubbling water. Certainly not as grand as the one in your pictures. Beautiful!
