On a previous run outing with just Loving Husband as part of our ParkTour efforts, we visited the outdoor gardens of the Gardens by the Bay earlier in the week.

    1. Ah! You visited these Gardens when you were last here! These are quite rather fun – we love that they are air-conditioned; gives us a break from the heat.

    1. I love botanical gardens, as you do! Apart from the Singapore Botanic Gardens & Gardens by the Bay, I am discovering smaller gardens and green spaces which I am thoroughly taken with.

        1. Looked up Biltmore Estate – so lovely! And in Asheville – haven’t heard that name in a while. My cousin lived there a lifetime ago and I always thought the names sounded so romantic! as is the estate! The Chihuly sculptures must have been so stunning in that setting.

  3. Hi Ju-Lyn.
Wow – some of these photos are just stunning! I’m going to have to seek out some nearby arboretums and see what I might be missing from our area.

I also wanted to share a story I created for Marsha’s story chat because you like positive things. this very short story describes a bleak event of a sick and dying child but reveals how things changed for one family in the early 1960s with implications that we all enjoy still today.
    I hope you like it.

      1. My wife and i have a trip planned in a few weeks to visit our youngest child in southern California. Last night we were looking into a large arboretum located near Pasadena and are planning on spending a day exploring it.
I want to see if I can capture any of it with my camera. Let’s see how it turns out.
        Thanks

    1. It was a lovely outing – we don’t go out together very often at all these days as we try to be careful in public places, but it wasn’t crowded at all so we enjoyed our time together very much.

    1. They are fun, aren’t they? I am always amazed how Loving Husband and I can be looking at the same thing and our photographs turn out so differently. His capture of the balls in the boat are my favourite from this installation.

  4. Thanks for linking up, Ju-Lyn. I am on a tea bonanza posting this week! The dome looks amazing as does the purple boat! I can only imagine how intense the colour is irl.

      1. I visited the Orchard and botanical gardens the last time I was in Singapore. Jurong Bird Park I remember from my very first visit way way back in 1988.
The Christmas teas are black and green tea varieties with fruits and spices like cinnamon, cloves, citrus etc added in – just like the spices one uses in Christmas cooking.

        1. Yes, I remember Christmas spiced teas – very into the season!
All our gardens, including the Zoo, Night Safari & Bird Parks, have had a revamp in the past decade. I am glad the Singapore Botanic Gardens are still free to visit – many of the other large gardens are by paid entry. Having said this, they are all very beautifully kept..

          1. Great to hear that the parks have been re-vamped. As I said, when I hear the word Jurong, I see a plethora of coloured macaws, presumably wings clipped sitting free on perches in an uncaged enclosure. Maybe those days are gone?

            1. Not at all – I haven’t been to the new & improved Bird Park but I have seen promotional material and the macaws sitting on the branch is still featured.
