Mural on Upper Cross Street

Popped into Chinatown to do a takeaway from our favourite Sichuan restaurant and was most delighted to find this gem while taking a shortcut through a little lane connecting Upper Cross Street & Mosque Street, close to the junction of Upper Cross Street & South Bridge Road.

The first image of a Girl on a Golden Dragon is on a wall along Upper Cross Street. The second, Boy on the tail end of the same Golden Dragon is found much higher up as you turn left into the sidelane. For a view of how both parts fit together, follow this link to TheOccasionalTraveller who had the foresight to take a panoramic view from across the street.

Zach, or Ernest Zacharevic, is “a Lithuanian-born artist combining fine art techniques with a passion for creating art outdoors”. I first encountered his work in Ipoh where many of his murals are found. I am so happy to find one of his works in my backyard.

For those who might be wondering, these are some of our favourites from Si Wei Mao Cai:

From top left, clockwise: Taste of Si Wei Beef, Lotus Root stirfried with garlic, Mapo Tofu, Twice Fried Potatoes, Egg Fried Rice, Twice Fried Pork Belly.

      1. Another item I will now know on the Asian menu! I’m getting quite the selection from you! Thanks for the recipes! They both look yummy! I will never find Lotus root where I live, but I am making a list of the foods for my Asian Food Folder! So when I travel…….Cady
